It is my goal to allow the viewer to find their own personal inspiration in each piece through my use of texture, color, and layers. I create works that interact with one another while viewing, as well as through the process of creating them. The process allows reflecting on the past but also thinking about the future and what it means to be in the current state of being. The color of one painting may flow onto another, making a connection to the cycle of life and transformation. Each color that is added through pouring or pooling influences one another, like each moment influences life. Through thinking about the different elements that go together in creating and finishing a painting, I have realized that unique emotional response is the core of this work. It is my hope that people can think about a certain memory or an emotion that they may have forgotten or have not been able to visualize. The process of creating these paintings allows me to make sense of life through the symbolic nature of layering, pouring, and pooling with the connection of each painting. I hope that my experimentation allows people to think about life and what it means to be alive in a visual sense.
